Thinking about the answers to these questions will help narrow it down further:
- How many people will be on board? The number of berths on a vessel is the maximum number of people it can legally carry. Remember that you have to count both Guests and crew.
- Does your group consist of pairs who can share the same cabin or do some Guests require a separate cabin? It is generally better for people to sleep in private cabins rather than converting the communal area into beds at night if it can be avoided.
- If you are taking help along, the skipper and any other crew also sleep on board, so cabin space needs to be reserved for them. This is easy if there are crew cabins on the boat. If not, they will need one of the other cabins (skipper and hostess can share). If you are booking a crewed catamaran, space has already been allocated for them so you do not need to adjust for this in your calculations.
- Do you prefer comfort? There is more space in a catamaran so the spec tends to be higher

Catamarans are luxurious floating apartments that open new horizons for living at sea. A catamaran will give you more comfort and more space than a monohull. Catamarans are ideal for guest entertaining as well as cruising. Because a catamaran does not heel it offers far more comfort underway than a monohull.
Catamarans are very wide and therefore provide a lot of outdoor areas, for all kinds of activities. From dining and reading to sunbathing and water sports. The main saloon of a catamaran is on the same level as cockpit so you don’t have to step down into a deep space, you walk straight to the light-filled saloon. The atmosphere is enhanced by natural light provided by the panoramic windows, portlights and deck flush hatches.
The rooms (cabins) are spacious, all with en-suite baths and excellent ventilation. Open plan saloon and galley, larger forward cockpit, and more onboard area ensure feeling of luxury. Dining and lounging are extremely comfortable. The kitchen is spacious and makes cooking fun and easy. The storage areas are plentiful and will accommodate your requirements whether it be hanging, drawers or under floor storage.
Monohull
We recommend monohulls (sailing boats) for vacation in Croatia to every true lover of the wind and the sea. A sailing boat will ensure the real sailing experience. Enjoy a leisurely sale around some off the Croatia’s breathtaking islands, remote coves and gorgeous towns.
Sailing boats have a variety of types and sizes. All of them offer safety, required equipment and spacious interior design.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”What is a bareboat charter?” tab_id=”1592245345709-6e8bccf1-8083″][vc_column_text]A bareboat charter is where you only rent the yacht/catamaran. You do not hire a professional skipper to come on board. You will need to hold the necessary qualifications to do this (see this FAQ to find out which licenses are recognized).
When chartering bareboat, you take full responsibility for the vessel and your crew. Under Croatian law, this means that you will not be able to consume alcohol while in charge of the vessel. Only once you have securely docked for the night will you be able to drink.
This is why many customers decide to take a skipper along on their yacht so that they can fully relax and enjoy a carefree sailing holiday![/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”What qualifications do I need for a bareboat charter in Croatia?” tab_id=”1592245345755-ff54b969-0cb7″][vc_column_text]To charter a yacht or catamaran without one of our skippers, you will need:
- a recognized certificate of competence issued by your country
- a VHF License
Croatia accepts licenses from almost all European countries as well as many others. Make sure that you download the list issued by the Croatian Ministry of the Sea to check if you have a valid license. If you are unsure, please get in touch with us so that there are no problems during check-in.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Technical equipment on board?” tab_id=”1592245345795-72a380b2-9b5f”][vc_column_text]Information about the equipment on board of the yacht is provided in the offer we will send you after you sent us a request. It is best to bring your own towels (both beach and bathroom), however, as not all charter agencies provide them.
Kitchens come equipped with a stove, oven, fridge and sink. They contain basic cooking utensils, pots/pans, table/glassware and cutlery similar to what you find in a small holiday rental.
In the comfort section of the yacht overview, you will find details of additional, non-standard, equipment. For example, coffee machines, ice- and water-makers.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Yacht availability.” tab_id=”1592245345879-b01444fc-636a”][vc_column_text]There is a small possibility that the yacht you choose when making your booking may not be available. For example, if it has suffered damage and requires maintenance. As outlined in the Terms and Conditions, we will endeavor to provide you with an appropriate alternative yacht. If a suitable replacement is not available a full refund will be provided.

The upfront booking price
At Croskipper, we like to keep it simple:
Yacht price + Transit log + Crew (optional) = Upfront booking price
If your holiday is within 40 days of the booking date, you will pay the full amount straight away. Otherwise, you can choose to pay in two installments: pay half when booking and the rest 40 days before sailing.
Optional extras
The cost of other items, such as safety nets, and water toys, will be payable on the day of departure during the check-in process at the charter office.
Tourist tax
You will pay the tourist tax, currently equivalent to a maximum of €1.50 per person per day, in cash (HRK) at the charter office during check-in.
Refundable deposit
While you are at the charter office, you will be required to authorize a refundable deposit against your credit card. Assuming that you do not cause any damage to the yacht during your sailing holiday (such as blocking the pipes with toilet paper or breaking the hatches), this will be returned at check-out.
[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”What is transit log?” tab_id=”1592245504828-71241808-18d7″][vc_column_text]When you look at booking a yacht, you will notice that each boat also has an obligatory transit log to pay. This is a fee that the charter company applies to the boat hire and as such is not under the control of The Yacht Break. The value depends on the size of the vessel, how many cabins and exactly what is included. It also differs between charter companies, so two comparable Lagoon 42s may have different transit log costs. Be rest assured that The Yacht Break only deals with charter companies that we are happy with. We want our customers to have a good level of service right through their sailing holiday, from start to finish
Each yacht in The Yacht Break portfolio displays the cost of this transit log so you are aware of exactly what you are paying for. Once you have chosen your yacht or catamaran we will add the cost of the transit log on to your booking price. This will speed up the check-in process on departure day as payment has already been taken.
What is included in the Transit Log?
Exactly what is included in the transit log varies between charter agencies. However, it generally includes the following:
- Documentation of the vessel’s permit/registration
- Crew list (any changes during the sailing week will incur an additional cost)
- Final cleaning
- Diving inspection of the hull prior to check-out
- Outboard motor
- Bed linen
- Towels (not all charter companies supply these)
- Starter pack (sponge, washing up liquid, toilet roll, ashtray)
- WiFi
The most important detail for you, the customer, in our experience is whether or not beach towels are included. Often you are arriving by air and in order to minimize the size of your suitcase it is useful to know. Feel free to enquirer which towels are included when you submit your booking request.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Can I charter a vessel for less than a week?” tab_id=”1592245504872-22f152de-8414″][vc_column_text]Sailing yacht charters usually begin, and end, on Saturdays.
Off-season (October – April)
If you wish to sail for less than a week in the low season this can be arranged. Pricing will be on a pro-rata basis (ie proportional to the number of days spent on board).
High season (May – September)
The main season runs from the second half of May until the first weeks of September. These are the busiest months and it is not possible to deviate from the Saturday-Saturday system. If you were unable to sail for the whole week, you would still be charged for a full weeks charter.[/vc_column_text][/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Can you help with airport transfers?” tab_id=”1592245504916-7459e42b-2b15″][vc_column_text]We are happy to help with airport transfers to and from the base marina.
